IARPA Launches New Research Program to Increase Understanding of How the Human Brain Interprets Concepts

WASHINGTON – The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA), within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), announced today that it has embarked on a multi-year research effort to develop scientific understanding of how the human brain represents conceptual knowledge. Insights obtained from the Knowledge Representation in Neural Systems (KRNS) program may ultimately improve the ability of intelligence community analysts to draw accurate inferences from intelligence data. DNI Clapper Declassifies Additional Intelligence Community Documents Regarding Collection Under Section 501 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act

In June of this year, President Obama directed me to declassify and make public as much information as possible about certain sensitive programs while being mindful of the need to protect sensitive classified intelligence activities and national security.  Since then, I have authorized the declassification and public release of numerous documents pertaining to the government’s collection under Sections 501 and 702 of FISA.
