While the majority of content available at DNI.gov is accessible via the built-in functionality of your web browser, there may sometimes be a need to use third-party plugins in order to display specific content or make use of certain site features.

Recommended web browser plugins for DNI.gov are listed below, including links from which these plugins can be downloaded for your use.

Portable Document Format

ODNI routinely posts reports, releases and other documents in the Portable Document Format (PDF). If your browser is not equipped with a built in PDF reader, you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the PDFs on DNI.gov.

Flash

ODNI occaisionally posts video content to DNI.gov. If your browser is not HTML5 compatible (this is primarily an issue with older versions of Internet Explorer), you will need Adobe Flash to view videos on DNI.gov.

Plain Language Act

The Plain Writing Act of 2010 requires federal agencies to write “clear government communication that the public can understand and use.” President Obama also emphasized the importance of establishing “a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration” in his Jan. 21, 2009 Memorandum on Transparency and Open Government.

The ODNI is committed to writing new documents in plain language using the Federal Plain Language Guidelines.

The ODNI is training our employees and have created an oversight process. We must use plain language in any document that

  • Is necessary for obtaining any federal government benefit or service or filing taxes.
  • Provides information about any federal government benefit or service.
  • Explains to the public how to comply with a requirement that the federal government administers or enforces.
