NIU Faculty Braves the Arctic to Study Unmanned Systems

NIU professor Dr. Peter Leitner, a faculty member of the Anthony G. Oettinger School of Science and Technology Intelligence, braved Arctic temperatures to understand the effects of extreme weather on unmanned systems. As part of his first trip in the northern ocean this past September, he worked with a team led by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Research and Development Center as they investigated implications for national security. NIU encourages faculty and students to address important questions concerning the Intelligence Community as part of the university's focus on education, research and outreach.
