On behalf of the entire Intelligence Community, I am pleased to announce that today, the Senate confirmed General David Petraeus to be the next CIA director.
Dave has been a dedicated public servant for almost 40 years. Since 9/11, his dogged determination and devotion to duty has played a critical role in our nation’s fight against violent extremists.
Dave’s tireless leadership, commitment to those serving on the front lines and keen understanding of the complex and rapidly shifting international security environment will be critical in safeguarding the homeland and protecting the nation’s interests.
The men and women of the CIA are fortunate to have Dave’s tremendous skills and intellect leading them in the coming years.
I congratulate Dave and his family and thank them for their continued service to our nation, and I look forward to continuing our close partnership.
