October 18, 2013

Today President Obama nominated Jeh Johnson to be the next U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security.

Jeh served as General Counsel of the Department of Defense from 2009 to 2012 and has been instrumental to reforming and shaping key U.S. military and counterterrorism policies. I had the privilege of getting to know Jeh during my tenure as USD(I). His tenacity and experience working national security issues make him the ideal partner to support and strengthen our mission to integrate intelligence.

Upon confirmation by the Senate, I look forward to continuing to work with Jeh to safeguard our nation’s interests and protect the homeland.
