DNI Clapper Statement on President Obama’s Intent to Nominate Francis X. Taylor
to be the Next
DHS Undersecretary for Intelligence and Analysis

Today, President Obama announced his intent to nominate Francis X. Taylor to be the next undersecretary for Intelligence and Analysis in the Department of Homeland Security.

With more than 40 years of military, government and commercial sector experience in senior counterterrorism, law enforcement and security positions, Frank is a recognized leader in these fields and is preeminently qualified for this position.

The depth and breadth of Frank’s expertise in the public and private sectors make him the ideal candidate to lead the intelligence and analytic enterprise of the Department of Homeland Security. As the lead agency in the federal government responsible for information sharing with state, local, tribal, territorial and private sector partners through the National Network of Fusion Centers, DHS will benefit greatly from Frank’s experience.

The DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis is a valued and integral member of the Intelligence Community and upon confirmation by the Senate, I look forward to working with Frank to safeguard our nation’s interests and protect the homeland.
