Policy Division

Policy Division

The mission of the Policy Division in the Office of the Assistant Director of National Intelligence for Policy and Strategy (OADNI/P&S) is to manage a unified, effective, and accountable policy process, based on a philosophy of communication, integration, and collaboration, to advance the transformation of the Intelligence Community (IC).

The Policy Division is charged with developing, coordinating, and maintaining policy for the IC. The Division seeks to establish an integrated and transformed IC through the promulgation of enduring policies that address executive direction, legislative requirements, and IC priorities.

IC policy is designed to strengthen the ability of the DNI to lead the IC as a unified enterprise, emphasize intelligence integration as the consistent organizing principle, and enable each IC agency to perform its missions and functions.

The Policy Division establishes a work plan with inputs from ODNI and IC leadership. By working closely with both ODNI and IC stakeholders, the Policy Division develops policies through a deliberate, collaborative, and iterative process.  As law, national direction, and requirements change, the Policy Division reviews and revises policy as appropriate to maintain relevancy and currency.
