DNI Haines Statement on the President’s Intent to Nominate Chris Fonzone as ODNI General Counsel
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines today issued the following statement regarding President Joseph Biden’s intent to nominate Chris Fonzone as the General Counsel for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence:
“Chris Fonzone is an excellent choice for ODNI General Counsel, with years of critical national security experience in a variety of roles. During the Obama Administration, Chris served as Deputy Assistant and Deputy Counsel to the President and the Legal Adviser to the National Security Council. Prior to his White House service, Chris was Special Counsel to the General Counsel of the Department of Defense, advising on military operations and litigation matters. He also served at the Department of Justice in the Office of Legal Counsel and on the Civil Division’s Appellate Staff. In private practice, Chris has worked on cybersecurity and other critical issues important to the Intelligence Community.
“His wealth of experience and expertise will make Chris an outstanding addition to the ODNI leadership team.”
