ODNI Releases Intelligence Community Annual Demographic Report
for Fiscal Year 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) today released the Annual Demographic Report for Fiscal Year 2022.

The report provides data on the demographic diversity of the Intelligence Community (IC); the continued efforts to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA); and areas where improvement has occurred and is still needed. For the first time, the report merges gender and minority information to assess intersectional recruiting, hiring, representation, and promotions, which provides additional insights to help increase DEIA in the IC’s ranks.

“Safeguarding our nation requires a diverse workforce that is ready to respond to a rapidly evolving threat landscape and tackle new national security challenges,” said Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines. “The IC’s success is contingent upon our ability to attract, develop, and retain a highly technical and talented workforce that fully represents the diversity of the American public we serve.”

ODNI prepared and submitted the Annual Demographic Report to Congress, as required by law. Since 2016, ODNI has publicly published the report to provide greater transparency into the IC’s progress, shortcomings, and ongoing efforts to improve DEIA across the IC.
