Reauthorization is the most important legislative priority for the Intelligence Community. I am committed to ensuring that our officers have the right tools to do their vital jobs—and that they do so consistent with American values of civil liberty, privacy, and transparency. DNI Coats Establishes New Intelligence Community Policy on Requests for Identities of U.S. Persons in Disseminated Intelligence Reports
Director of National Intelligence Daniel R. Coats today signed Intelligence Community Policy Guidance 107.1, establishing for the first time community-wide guidance for responding to requests for the identities of U.S. persons in disseminated intelligence reports, commonly referred to as “unmasking.”
IARPA Launches Program to Develop New Biosecurity Tools
WASHINGTON – The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity, within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, announces today a multi-year research effort to develop new biosecurity tools under the Functional Genomic and Computational Assessment of Threats—“Fun GCAT”—program that will prevent the accidental or intentional creation of biological threats such as bacteria, viruses, and toxins.

WASHINGTON – The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity, within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, announces today a multi-year research effort to develop language processing software, known as Machine Translation for English Retrieval of Information in Any Language—“MATERIAL”— that will enable users to quickly develop and deploy fully automatic systems that will allow English-only speakers to accurately and efficiently identify foreign language documents of interest across social media, newswire, and broadcasts—to name a few.
