Leaders from the Department of Defense and intelligence community Thursday emphasized the need for a diverse workforce in support of national security.

“Learning how to be fast followers and adopters takes a cultural shift,” said ODNI Principal Executive Andrew Hallman in his Nov. 5 opening comments at the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence panel, The Defense of a Nation: AI Leadership for the Future.

A group of federal agencies on Friday released a set of new processes that will govern how lawmakers, government agencies, the private sector and the public would be notified of foreign interference in U.S. elections.

The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) within ODNI today announced the launch of the Better Extraction from Text Towards Enhanced Retrieval (BETTER) program. BETTER is a multi-year research effort that aims to develop a capability to provide personalized information extraction from text to an individual analyst across multiple languages and topics.

The nation’s top counterintelligence officer said at a Minneapolis Cyber Security conference in Minneapolis last week that he’s most concerned about external cyber threats against critical U.S. infrastructure.
