Assistant DNI, Partner Engagement

Lieutenant General John D. Bansemer, USAF

Bansemer PE smallLieutenant General Bansemer entered the Air Force in 1987 as a distinguished graduate of Officer Training School at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of National Intelligence for Partner Engagement at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

 

Lt Gen Bansemer has served in a variety of operational intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance duties assignments in the United States, Japan and Germany; and commanded at the detachment, squadron, group and wing levels. He served on the Air Staff and the Air Intelligence Agency staff and as the senior intelligence officer, Director of Intelligence, to the U.S. EUCOM Commander and staff. He also provided advice and expertise on a range of national security issues to the National Security Council staff.

 

Lt Gen Bansemer holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences and Statistic, Magna Cum Laude, from Roanoke College and a Master of Science Degree in Computer Science from James Madison University. His military education includes the Signals Intelligence Officer Course; Squadron Officer School; System Network and Interdisciplinary Program Internship; Air Command and Staff College; Air War College; National Defense Fellow, Harvard University; the National Security Management Course, Syracuse University; and the Senior Joint Information Operations Applications Course.

 

Lt Gen Bansemer’s awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with six oak leaf clusters.
