John B. Sherman

ShermanMr. John Sherman was selected by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) to serve as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Intelligence Community (IC) in September 2017.

Prior to his selection Mr. Sherman served as the Deputy Director of CIA’s Open Source Enterprise (OSE). He previously served in several senior executive positions at NGA in areas dealing with analysis, collection, and international partnerships. Prior to NGA, he served as the Principal Deputy National Intelligence for Military Issues on the National Intelligence Council, with earlier assignments as an imagery analyst and White House Situation Room duty officer.

John is a 1992 Distinguished Military Graduate of Texas A&M University where he commanded the Corps of Cadets and received a BA in History, and he also earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Houston. Following graduation from Texas A&M, he served as a US Army Air Defense officer.

John is a recipient of the Meritorious Presidential Rank, Intelligence Medal of Merit, NGA Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, and Canada’s Chief of Defense Intelligence Medallion.
