The Office of the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community (IC IG) recently released its Semiannual Report to the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) and Congress for the period of October 1, 2019 through March 31, 2020. The National Security Act of 1947 (as amended) requires the IC IG to prepare and submit to the DNI a classified and, as appropriate, unclassified Semiannual Report summarizing the activities of the IC IG for the preceding six month period. The report features activities across the spectrum of IG operations including audits, inspections, investigations, reviews, and the whistleblower program.

After careful consideration, the Office of the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community (ICIG) announced that it has made the difficult decision, in consultation with the Intelligence Community Inspectors General Forum, to cancel the Annual Intelligence Community Inspectors General Conference in light of growing concerns over the spread of COVID-19. The event, which was scheduled to take place on April 20, 2020, would have brought together representatives from Offices of Inspectors General (OIGs) in the Intelligence Community to exchange ideas on topics of common interest.

The Office of the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community (ICIG) issued a Capstone Report summarizing shared management and performance challenges faced by the Intelligence Community during Fiscal Year 2019. In accordance with The Reports Consolidation Act of 2000, federal agencies’ Inspectors General must prepare a report summarizing what the Inspectors General consider to be the most serious management and performance challenges facing their agencies, and briefly assess the organization’s progress in addressing those challenges. Based on audits, inspections, and investigations conducted during the previous fiscal year, the Inspectors General in the Intelligence Community each prepared their own report identifying challenges.
