ODNI Welcomes Dr. Catherine Marsh as
Director of IARPA

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) welcomes Dr. Catherine Marsh as the director of the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA). She succeeds Dr. Stacey Dixon, who now serves as deputy director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

"We are happy to welcome Catherine back to the ODNI," said Deputy DNI for Strategy & Engagement Corin Stone. "Her impressive experience, previous service at IARPA and career of innovation make her the right leader for this important position."

In her role, she will lead groundbreaking and multi-disciplinary research programs to achieve breakthrough technologies for national intelligence missions.

Dr. Marsh has held several scientific positions within CIA's Directorate of Science & Technology (DS&T). From 2013-2015, Dr. Marsh served as deputy director of IARPA where she was responsible for investing in high-risk/high-payoff research programs that have the potential to provide our nation with an overwhelming intelligence advantage.

With career experience in both industry and government, Dr. Marsh is a renowned power-sources expert with a history of leading development teams. While in industry, she led the team that put lithium-ion technology on numerous platforms, including NASA's Mars Exploration Rovers Spirit and Opportunity.

Dr. Marsh is a Director of National Intelligence Fellow and member of DS&T's Distinguished Expert Cadre. She holds a bachelor's degree and doctorate in inorganic and analytical chemistry from Brown University.
