NCBC is aligned under the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).  D/NCBC reports to the Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

 

NCBC has two primary directorates—Office of Advanced Capabilities, and Office of Mission Integration.

History

NCBC is one of four centers under the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. It was founded in 2005 Based on recommendations from the WMD Commission the same year and direction from the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004. NCBC helps counter threats against the United States from the Proliferation of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons and missiles capable of delivering them.

Mission

Lead the Intelligence Community and the interagency to counter and halt the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, their delivery systems, related technologies, and expertise. Serve as the lead for the integration, mission management, and coordination of intelligence activities pertaining to biosecurity and foreign biological threats.

 

Vision

Protect the American people from weapons of mass destruction and foreign biological threats by advancing innovative capabilities to posture the U.S. government and its partners to anticipate emerging threats.
