Intelligence Discipline
Overview
The XML CVE Encoding Specification for Intelligence Discipline (INTDIS.XML) defines detailed implementation guidance for using Extensible Markup Language (XML) to encode Intelligence Discipline (INTDIS) controlled vocabulary. The INTDIS.XML vocabulary defines values that are valid intelligence disciplines. The CVE Encoding Specification (CES) defines the XML elements and attributes, associated structures and relationships, mandatory and cardinality requirements, and permissible values for representing data concepts for using XML.
This specification is maintained by the IC Chief Information Officer via the Data Standards Coordination Activity (DSCA) and Common Metadata Standards Tiger Team (CMSTT).

Mission Requirements
This specification is designed to fulfill a number of requirements in support of the transformational efforts of the Intelligence Community. Many of these requirements are articulated in IC Directives 203, 206, 208, 501, and 710, among others. This specification provides a common, consistent way to encode Intelligence Discipline controlled vocabulary.

Need to Know Access Control Encoding Specification
Overview
The Access Control Encoding Specification for Need-To-Know (NTK.ACES) defines implementation requirements for providing access to resources protected with NTK metadata. This ACES defines the combinational logic between data tags and user/entity attributes. This specification applies to the Intelligence Community (IC) and information produced by, stored, or shared within the IC.
This specification supports Executive Order (EO) 13526, Classified National Security Information which "prescribes a uniform system for classifying, safeguarding, and declassifying national security information," across national security disciplines, networks, services, and data.
This specification is maintained by the IC Chief Information Officer via the Data Standards Coordination Activity (DSCA) and Common Metadata Standards Tiger Team (CMSTT).

Mission Need
Overview
The XML CVE Encoding Specification (CES) for Mission Need (MN.XML) defines controlled vocabularies for geographic regions and issue categories related to GIMMEE Mission Need Profiles. This CES provides controlled vocabularies that map directly to regions and issues use in Mission Need Profiles for use in XML instance documents.
This specification is maintained by the IC Chief Information Officer via the Data Standards Coordination Activity (DSCA) and Common Metadata Standards Tiger Team (CMSTT).

Mission Need Taxonomy
Overview
The XML Taxonomy Encoding Specification (TES) for Mission Need Taxonomy (MNT.XML) defines vocabulary mappings for countries to their geographic regions and subjects to their issue categories where regions and issues are pulled from the MN.CES specification. This TES provides XML taxonomy files that can be used as machine-readable mappings as well as informational documentation about the mappings.
This specification is maintained by the IC Chief Information Officer via the Data Standards Coordination Activity (DSCA) and Common Metadata Standards Tiger Team (CMSTT).

Media Type Controlled Vocabulary
Overview
The Media Type Controlled Value Enumeration (CVE) Encoding Specification (CES) defines a controlled vocabulary for media types used by the Intelligence Community (IC). This CES provides tokens for both IC-defined media types and general media types defined by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). Although the title refers to media types, the values in this specification are derived from Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) Internet standard. The abbreviation MIME is a generally-known term for media types even though the use is not limited to email and MIME is no longer used by IANA; the IANA specification is now known as “Media Types.” This specification applies generally to media types; it is NOT limited to use for mail extensions.
This specification applies to the use of media types in information produced, stored, or shared within the IC. This CES may be useful outside the scope of intelligence, but potential adopters should independently assess the CES appropriateness for any particular purpose. This specification contains tagging structures for information resource metadata, mixed textual and media content found in the body of publications, source reference citations, classification and control markings, and knowledge assertions.
This specification is maintained by the IC Chief Information Officer via the Data Standards Coordination Activity (DSCA) and Common Metadata Standards Tiger Team (CMSTT).
