Chairman Schiff, Ranking Member Turner, members of the Committee, thank you for the opportunity to speak with you today and to provide testimony, alongside my wonderful colleagues and on behalf of the Intelligence Community, on the IC’s 2022 assessment of worldwide threats to U.S. national security.
Before I start, I just want to take a moment to express to you how much I have appreciated your thoughtful support and partnership this last year and to publicly thank the men and women of the Intelligence Community for their extraordinary work to keep us safe. I know how privileged I am to be a part of the Intelligence community at this time and with extraordinarily talented people, to be given a chance to do something useful in service to my country and I thank you for the opportunity.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) today released the 2022 Annual Threat Assessment of the U.S. Intelligence Community. This report reflects the collective insights of the Intelligence Community, which is committed every day to providing the nuanced, independent, and unvarnished intelligence that policymakers, warfighters, and domestic law enforcement personnel need to protect American lives and America's interests anywhere in the world.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines today issued the following statement:
“I am delighted to announce Dr. Adele J. Merritt as the Intelligence Community Chief Information Officer (IC CIO). Dr. Merritt will lead our ongoing modernization efforts to transform the IC Information Technology Enterprise, ensure the security of the IC’s Information Technology systems, and enhance IT cooperation within the IC.
This annual report of worldwide threats to the national security of the United States responds to Section 617 of the FY21 Intelligence Authorization Act (P.L. 116-260). This report reflects the collective insights of the Intelligence Community (IC), which is committed every day to providing the nuanced, independent, and unvarnished intelligence that policymakers, warfighters, and domestic law enforcement personnel need to protect American lives and America’s interests anywhere in the world.
The University of Hawaii Mānoa hosted Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines in a virtual engagement with students in December 2021. During the initial discussion with UH President David Lassner, she highlighted the significance of Hawaii’s diversity in intelligence analysis, answered questions from students, and outlined career opportunities for those interested in joining the Intelligence Community.
