Press Releases 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Director of National Intelligence Avril D. Haines today issued the following statement:

“On behalf of the Intelligence Community (IC), I want to congratulate Lieutenant General Timothy D. Haugh, U.S. Air Force, on his confirmation as the Commander of U.S. Cyber Command, Director of the National Security Agency (NSA), and Chief of the Central Security Service. Lt. Gen. Haugh brings to this position extraordinary knowledge and experience, having served in a variety of leadership positions focused on intelligence and cyber, including as the Deputy Commander of U.S. Cyber Command. He also has a tremendous reputation as a man of integrity and a manager who cares about his workforce. I am grateful to him for taking on this critically important leadership role in our Intelligence Community and very much look forward to working with him in his new position.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Director of National Intelligence Avril D. Haines today issued the following statement:

“Congratulations to The Honorable Christopher C. Fonzone on his confirmation as the Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel. Chris is a brilliant legal scholar and, even more importantly, a wonderful human being. His confirmation is well deserved, albeit bittersweet for those of us in the Intelligence Community because it means he no longer will serve as ODNI's General Counsel. As we wish Chris all the best in his new leadership role at DOJ, we thank him for his sage advice, calm demeanor, and commitment to the rule of law. His service as ODNI General Counsel will have a lasting impact and is all the more noteworthy given the authorities entrusted to the IC. We have depended on Chris time and time again for timely, practical, and sound counsel on some of the toughest questions facing the country and I am incredibly heartened to know that his exceptional judgment will now be relied upon by the Attorney General in this incredibly important position.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Director of National Intelligence Avril D. Haines today issued the following statement:

“On behalf of the entire Intelligence Community (IC), I wish to congratulate Harry Coker, Jr., on his confirmation as our nation's second National Cyber Director — we are very lucky to have him in this role. Harry is a great leader and a distinguished IC alumnus, having served in senior roles at the Central Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency. His confirmation comes at a critical time as cyber is woven into so many aspects of our national security, and his expertise, coupled with his stellar reputation for collaboration and problem-solving, are just what we need. Congratulations, Harry!"
