Sara Lynn Pickett
Sara Lynn Pickett is the Assistant Director of National Intelligence for Legislative Affairs. In this role, she serves as the senior advisor to the Director of National Intelligence on all matters related to Congressional oversight requirements, counsels’ other senior leaders on Congressional interest items, and coordinates the legislative activities of 18 Intelligence Community elements.
Previously, Pickett was the Deputy Assistant Secretary for House Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security. In this role, she was responsible for coordinating legislative efforts and managing the Department’s relationship with the U.S. House of Representatives. Prior to this work, Pickett was the Communications Director for U.S. Representatives Scott Perry (PA-10) and Doug Lamborn (CO-5). In these capacities, Pickett managed all messaging efforts, providing guidance and counsel to Members of Congress on intelligence, defense, oversight, foreign affairs, emergency management, and national security matters.
Before this work on Capitol Hill, Pickett spent six years in the Department of Defense and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in various public and legislative affairs roles focused on research, engineering, funding, management, and reform efforts within the executive branch. She was awarded the Medal for Exceptional Public Service during her time in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
Before her work in the federal government, Pickett worked in various public affairs and marketing capacities for the Georgia House of Representatives, nonprofits, and small businesses in Georgia. Pickett received her B.S. in Communications from Kennesaw State University.
