Press Releases 2017

WASHINGTON – The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity, within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, announces today a multi-year research effort to develop language processing software, known as Machine Translation for English Retrieval of Information in Any Language—“MATERIAL”— that will enable users to quickly develop and deploy fully automatic systems that will allow English-only speakers to accurately and efficiently identify foreign language documents of interest across social media, newswire, and broadcasts—to name a few.

Reauthorizing Section 702 before it expires is vital to keeping the nation safe. Let us be clear: if Congress fails to act, vital intelligence collection on international terrorists and other foreign adversaries will be lost. The country will be less secure.

Today the Office of the Director of National Intelligence is re-launching Intelligence.gov as an all-new digital front door for the U.S. Intelligence Community, with a focus on increasing transparency about the IC’s authorities and activities.

WASHINGTON – The Intelligence Community is sponsoring a $75,000 prize competition to explore opportunities for artificial intelligence and other machine-based approaches to transform the process by which IC analytic products are reviewed and evaluated prior to their dissemination to policymakers and warfighters.

Consistent with 50 U.S.C. 3306(b), the Director of National Intelligence is disclosing to the public, not later than 30 days after the end of the fiscal year, the aggregate amount of funds appropriated by Congress to the National Intelligence Program for Fiscal Year 2017.
